The design of this office space is based on medieval nautical styling, a tribute to the renowned explorer, Magellan. The client's admiration for the spirit of endeavoring through uncharted waters is reflected in the design's motifs, which symbolize determination and the commencement of a journey. The light grey wall complements the corporate logo, while the office is filled with nautical elements such as hemp rope, arched beams, round rods, canvas, ship side boards, and oak barrels.
The office of the chairman features a cabin handle and medieval nautical charts, symbolizing the adventurous spirit of sailing through uncharted waters. The design team has worked tirelessly on sustainable design, using recycled timber pallets and disused oak barrels. High-tech print-outs replace actual timber materials, reflecting the blend of tradition and technology.
The design area spans 275 square meters and is located in Taipei City, Taiwan. The project was completed in June 2019. The design team, including Leo Lin and Gary Lin, used many recycled pallets to create a ship cabin office, transcending the nautical theme into an actual environment.
The project, "Realm of Transition," aims to transform the concept of work from a mundane task into a bold endeavor. The overall design theme was anchored on the symbolism of ships, where different parts of the ships amalgamate with various parts of the office. This unique approach to office design has earned the project the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.
The design team faced challenges in sustainable design, working tirelessly with recycled timber pallets and disused oak barrels. They also used high-tech print-outs to replace actual timber materials, showcasing their innovative approach to design and commitment to environmental conservation.
